Unboxing Once upon a book club Adult Box April 2018

I thought I cancelled OUABC this month but apparently not on time so here we go with my second unboxing of the Adult box!

Just finished reading the book/unpacking all of the gifts and I can say that this box wasn’t as great as the previous one..

Bookish items (cat not included ๐Ÿ˜) were:

๐ŸŒธA letter that one of the main characters, Tracey got.(Had a ribbon as closure)

๐ŸŒธFuzzy pink slippers, worn by Delilah at some point.

๐ŸŒธAn extra book, The age of innocense by Edith Wharton, read by Delilah.

๐ŸŒธ Pink scarf with housepattern, worn by Melinda in the book.

๐ŸŒธMorrocan mint tea as an extra because the box was later than usual.

I like the slippers because I didn’t have any and they are super soft and girlishly cute ๐Ÿ˜ I guess they’re my childish guilty pleasure now ๐Ÿ˜… The tea is also welcome because it’s my new addiction when I’m reading. Don’t know what to do with the scarf though.. Probably will end up in the good will clothing sack I keep around ๐Ÿ˜

Now on to the book.

The house on harbor hill by Shelly Stratton

Rating: 3/5 stars

The book is about two women and a housekeeper with troubling pasts who find friendship in one another. When ghosts from before make a reappearance in their lives, they have to deal with it instead of running away.

Overall, it was a good read where friendship, romance, heartache and homeviolence are keynotes. Maybe not a book I will keep in my library but the story was entertaining, it had enough drama that made you feel for the characters. It doesn’t pull you in too deep but the whole vibe of bad karma does leave you with unease while reading. I wish it had more humour though. The ending could also use something ‘Je ne sais quoi’.

If you ever run out of books in your TBR novels, this could be nice read.๐Ÿ‘
